Bathroom Design: Part III - Bathroom Colors and Styles

Back

Bathrooms have styles, just like people have styles. The more thought you put into the style of your bathroom finishes during the renovation, the happier you'll be with the final result. Look through lots of online bathroom photos and bathroom renovation or interior design publications. Don't worry if you don't know the names of all the different styles - all you need to know is what you like and what you don't like. Make two collections representing your favorite bathrooms and your nightmare bathrooms. Refer to them both as a guide when choosing bathroom fixtures, bathroom accessories, bathroom tile, and anything else that goes in your bathroom. These sample bathroom photos are from the Artizen Home Renovations website. (Thanks, Artizen!)

Another important design element is your bathroom colors. When choosing colors for your bathroom, always start with the most expensive item to install: tiles. The reason is: if you change your color tastes, or if you sell your property, anyone can change the color of the wall paint or even the color of the cabinets relatively easily. However, changing the color of your tile is pretty much impossible - you have to rip them all out! Choose a tile that works with your color palette today, and also the colors of tomorrow. That way a quick paint job and you (or someone else) can have a brand new bathroom. Now it's time to consider your Bathroom Fixtures and Materials.
